Global classroom projects

Field trip

An essential future skill is collaboration - shared responsibility for an outcome, working together collegially, and building on, growing, nurturing and supporting skills in a team. Like any other skill, collaboration skills need to be developed, over time, with your students.

One great way of helping your students to enhance their skills in collaboration, is to get involved in a Global Project. Here are some projects with descriptions from their websites:

  • Global2: Thinking about global projects for your students?
  • Adobe Youth Voices: AYV provides youth 13 to 19 years of age with the inspiration, training, and technology to create original media works on issues they care about. Since 2006, more than 5,000 educators and 190,000 youth from 60 countries have engaged in AYV programs to develop thought-provoking content on relationships, human rights, the environment, and other topics. Through these experiences, participants hone skills of self-expression, ideation, collaboration, flexibility, and persistence - the skills we regard as central to Creative Confidence.
  • iEARN (International Education and Resource Network): iEARN is a non-profit organisation made up of over 30,000 schools and youth organisations in more than 140 countries. iEARN empowers teachers and young people to work together online using the Internet and other new communications technologies. Over 2,000,000 students each day are engaged in collaborative project work worldwide.
  • Flat Connections Global Projects: a global collaboration that supports intercultural understanding and global competency through learning together.
  • The Global Classroom Project: since its inception in March 2011, The Global Classroom Project has hosted over 20 K-12 global projects, and helped connect hundreds of teachers from over 42 countries around the world.
