Carrie Barclay

Ashby Primary School

Role at school:

I am Assistant Principal for Curriculum Innovation and Design, as well as co-teach a Grade 3/4 class for 2 days per week. My role is to oversee curriculum and ensure students are being catered for with deep learning lessons and tasks that foster and engage them in rich learning experiences. Effective technology integration plays a large part in this.

From your experience, what are the top two or three apps the school has embraced? How are they being used?

iMovie

Our School Captains meet fortnightly to create 3-4 minute videos titled 'ATV' (Ashby TV). iMovie is their main platform for creating these episodes which are to be shared on our school YouTube Channel. Production is currently in process. app

Explain Everything

Students use this application to share their learning and how successful they have been in particular units and lessons of work. These are shared in mulitple ways where feedback is given by students, staff and parents. app

Paper by 53

Simple yet quite powerful. Students are easily able to create and keep notes, sketches, drawings, planning ideas, and so for various subjects and curriculum areas. Great app for designing concepts and getting thoughts on paper. app
