Slowmation

Slowmation means a slow animation that can be made using most movie making programs.

At Rosehill Secondary College students used slowmation to explore cells in Biology.

"There are a lot of animations that are made for kids, so kids become consumers of animation. I think there's much more powerful learning in the kids actually being the creator of the animation ....We can quite easily go in and tell kids about cells, but the philosophy underpinning this process is that teaching is not telling, that the kids need to be involved ... by slowing things right down, we see the potential of using technology as a way of really helping kids generate new knowledge and new understanding about particular concepts and topics"
